AOS Program Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Will I need tools?
Answer: All tools are supplied, while in the classroom. Once they start working "in shop" they can start to buy tools as needed.
Question: What are the class hours?
Answer: During the 7.5 week timeframes they are in classroom the hours are:Â 8am - 4:30pm
During the 7.5 week timeframes they are in the shop the hours: Participates in the 3-day, rotating schedule that all our technicians work. 7:30AM - 9:00PM (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday for one month and then Thursday/Friday/Saturday for the next month)
Question: Can they work / not work when in class?
Answer: Every student that is a part of the AOS Program is also an employee of Northtown. They are able to work, part-time, when they are "in class" for their 7.5 weeks, around their class schedule. Or, they could just focus on their schooling and not work throughout that time. When they are "in shop" for their 7.5 weeks they will be paid for all hours worked, in the shop, which equates to 37.5 hours a week.
Question: How does the tool allowance work?
Answer: Student purchases the tool, provides a receipt to our Program Director, Chris Sledziewski, and then reimbursed in payroll. The tool allowance is a max of $3000 over the course of the 2 year program.
Question: How does Tuition Reimbursement work?
Answer: Upon graduation, the employee may submit for tuition reimbursement by providing Northtown proof of payment for tuition expenses. Reimbursements will be made weekly to the employee over a period of 48 months as long as the individual remains employed, as a technician, with Northtown.Â
Question: What is the pay rate throughout the Milestone steps?
Answer: Each student starts out at $17.85/hour and then when they complete a milestone they get a pay increase. There are a total of 8 Milestones throughout the 2 year time frame. If all milestones are completed the student will be at $22.10 Flat Rate/Hourly.
